About Costa Rica Tarrazu

At DISTRICT Roasters, we pride ourselves in sourcing the finest coffees from all around the world. This Central American treat is no exception. Grown in nutrient-rich, volcanic soils, these choice Arabica coffee beans are raised between 1400 - 1600 meters (4600 - 5250 feet) above sea level on farms sheltered by Costa Rica’s beautiful Pacific mountain range. The Tarrazu region has a storied history of raising some of the world’s most coveted coffee beans. Generations of farmers dedicated to their crafts have grown coffee on small plantations in valleys and on mountainsides. At the height of harvest season, which lasts only about three months, the beans are hand-picked and dried under the warm Costa Rican sun. No herbicides or pesticides are ever used throughout the growing or processing stages of these beans and, like all DISTRICT products, our Tarrazu coffee beans are fair-trade and totally organic. Sure, there are easier ways to grow coffee but we believe this commitment and discipline from soil to sip helps to create a difference you can taste. Costa Rica Tarrazu Roasting Profile City: We prepare our Costa Rica Tarrazu beans to have a lighter roast, approaching medium. Costa Rica Tarrazu Flavor Profile This unique bean has a very special flavor profile that hints to its Central American origins. You’ll detect hints of cacao with cinnamon, with a very mild citrus green apple finish. This is an exceptionally clean cup and it’s the perfect way to start your morning. Pro-Tip: Try pairing this coffee with a hearty bowl of apple-cinnamon oatmeal. We don’t often get snow in Houston but this tasty, warm breakfast combo will have you ready for even the coldest winter days!
